James (Jay) Gaddis

U.S. Veteran

James H. (Jay) Gaddis, Jr., age 81, of Newport, passed away, Saturday, June 11, 2011. Jay was a member of Fellowship Presbyterian Church. He served as a Lay Speaker for the United Methodist Church for many years. Mr. Gaddis was an educator for 48 years. He was Superintendent of Morristown City and Newport Grammar School for 27 of those years. Jay was a devoted member of the Gideons International and spoke frequently for the Gideons. He was a long-time member of the Newport Kiwanis. He was a veteran of the U S Army. He was preceded in death by his parents, James H. Gaddis Sr. and Ida Maddron Gaddis and granddaughter, Kristen Moore. He is survived by his wife, Eva Gaddis; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Tommy Bible, Karen and Tom Inman; brother, Ray Gaddis and wife Dot of Knoxville; grandchildren, Kari Ann Moore, Jill Jones and husband Ricky, Cierra Inman, Kenzie Inman, and McKinley Bible. Funeral services will be held 8:00 pm, Monday, June 13, 2011 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jim Loftis officiating. Burial will be held 10:00 a m, Tuesday, June 14, 2011 in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm Monday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Gideons International, P. O.
