Roger Dale Shoemaker, age 58, of Morristown, passed away Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013 in Newport. He was the former owner and president of Hodge Electric Company in Morristown. Dale was born July 22, 1955, in Newport, TN to C. Glen Shoemaker and the late Dorothy I. Shoemaker. He is survived by his son, Jason (Margo) Shoemaker and his grandchildren, Caroline and Thomas Shoemaker, all of Lynchburg, VA; and his father, Glen; his sisters, Carlene Ford and Lorri Shoemaker Baxter; his brother, Bruce Shoemaker; and many nieces and nephews, all of Newport. Dale was a long-time member of Trinity United Methodist Church and involved in many community and philanthropic organizations. One of his favorite annual events was taking needy children shopping for items on their Christmas wish lists through the Morristown A.M. Rotary Club. The family will meet with friends for a visitation today, Tuesday, September 24 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Manes Funeral Home in Newport. The service will immediately follow at 8 p.m. officiated by the Rev. Mark Hatley. A private burial will be held at a later time at Union Cemetery.
