Beauanne Brummett Ford

Beauanne Brummett Ford, age 72, of Jefferson City, formerly of Newport, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018, following her courageous battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late A.L. (Bo) Brummett and Virginia Garland Brummett, who moved to Newport when her father assumed a position as football coach at Cocke County High School. During her high school years, the family moved to Jefferson City, TN, where Mr. Brummett was principal at Jefferson High School. She was a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she was chosen as a Vol Beauty. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Home Economics Education and later completed her Master's degree from UTK in Secondary School Counseling. After college graduation, she began her career in education teaching home economics for one year in Hamblen County. Later she taught three years in the Shelby County School System while her husband, Dr. Hobart (Toby) Ford completed his education in dental school in Memphis. Following Dr. Ford's graduation, the family moved back to East Tennessee, where he established his dental practice in Newport and she served as a guidance counselor at Cosby High School for ten years and at Cocke County High School for fifteen years. During her years as a counselor, she established a reputation as an educator whose interest in her individual students manifested itself in numerous ways. Her love for her students carried over into their post-high school years and she never failed to ask how a former student was doing and praise them for any accomplishments. Her impact on her students cannot be measured. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Newport, but had been attending First Baptist Church, Jefferson City, where she and her husband had been married. She was a former member of the East Tennessee Education Association, Tennessee Counselors Association, Cocke County Education Association, and Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers Society. She had been an active member of the Clifton Club and Carson-Newman University's chapter of Les Amies. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Dr. Hobart (Toby) Ford, Jr. She is survived by her two loving sons Isaac Ford and Beau Ford (Amelia) of Jefferson City; Beau and Amelia's two sons Aiden and Collin Ford, also of Jefferson City; her sister Vicki Brummett Williams (John) of Memphis; one niece Virginia Williams Bricken (Bradford) of Sherman Oaks, California, and one nephew Johnny Williams (Jennifer) of Germantown, TN. Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at Manes Funeral Home followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Dr. Gene Wilder will officiate. Interment will be in Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, lasting memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association, the American Cancer Society, or the Children's Ministry of the First Baptist Church, 1610 Russell Ave., Jefferson City, TN 37760.
