Betty "Fee" Ophelia. Campbell

On September 8, 2026, Betty Ophelia Campbell, age 63 of Newport, passed away at her home. She was born July 7, 1963 in Newport, TN. Betty was a former employee of the defunct local factory, Con-Agra foods. Betty was a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church where she often attended until her health began to fail. Family, friends, and acquaintances will fondly remember Betty by her nickname, “Fee.” She was most proud to wear the title of being called “Aunt Fee.” She owned it well. She was preceded in death by her mother Kathryn A. Carr, aunt Mildred E. McGravy, grandfather John H. Carr, grandmother Airleen Carr, step-grandmother Victoria Foster Carr, and brothers Steven J. Carr and Maxwell R. Carr. She is survived by her aunt Betty J. Goodrum of Newport; sisters Janella Carr and Melanie R. Carr of Newport; brothers Benjamin D. (Sherry) Carr of Jefferson City, TN and Patrick D. Carr of Newport; nephews for whom the foundation was laid and she thoroughly loved raising them as her own, S. Jerome Carr of Knoxville, Michael T. Massengill of Johnson City, Dexter M. (Brittney) Carr of Sevierville, and William R. (Karli) Carr of Sarasota, FL; nephews Patrick A. Carr and Cornelius D. Carr of Newport; nieces Racquel E. (James) Neal of Knoxville, Lydia S. Carr, Brittany L. Carr both of Newport, Autum S. (Timmy) Patterson of Cosby, and LaShea Carr of Hayesville, NC; she leaves a host of additional nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins; and special friends Julia Peak, Marsha Haney, Deloris Robinson, and Angie Crumb. Fee’s Memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Though are hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort in knowing her struggles are over. Her soul is now resting peacefully with our Heavenly Father. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church, 225 White Oak Avenue, Newport, TN with Rev. Rev. Clifton Jackson, Sr. and Rev. James C. Billings officiating. Burial will be in the Carr Cemetery, Parrottsville, TN. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. on Saturday at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church prior to the memorial service.
