Christine Mason

Christine Mason, age 88, of Newport, was born June 3, 1924 and ascended to her heavenly home on July 3, 2012 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Junior Mason, son Don Mason, parents Eula and Garfield Ramsey, sisters Barbara Russell, Ina Mae Mason, Mary Holt, Beulah Shoemaker, brothers, Herbert Ramsey, and Thomas Seward Ramsey plus several sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Carroll) Cureton, son, Charles (Regenia) Mason, grandchildren, Angel (Ronald) Fowler, Chuck Mason, great-grandchildren Casey (Grant) Webb, and Jackson Mason, great-great grandchildren Addison and Madelyn Webb. Sister Betty (Lloyd) Green, brothers George "Buck" Ramsey, James (Mary) Ramsey, special sister-in- law Emma Dean James and special niece Imogene (Kermit) Andrews and her telephone and shopping friend Julie McAmis numerous nieces, nephews plus special friend and neighbor Jennie Lou Rader. "Grannie" as she was affectionately known by most who met her could be seen with her granddaughter serving up pinto beans and cornbread at most local festivals and the fair. One of her greatest joys was watching her great-great granddaughter Addison play softball with her Chaos team. She rarely missed a game. She enjoyed gardening and canning her produce. Most days she could be seen tending her garden while talking on the telephone. During her illness her great-great granddaughter Madelyn would always bring a smile to her face. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Manes Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 8 p.m. in the Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Tom Mooty and Rev. Ned Ramsey officiating. Interment will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 6, 2012 in Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
