Edmund Felix Woods

Honoring and celebrating the life of Edmund Felix Woods age 72 of Newport passed away November 16, 2022. Edmund was born to Parents Robert Eugene Woods and Emma Jean (McDowell) Woods, Newport, TN on November 18, 1950. He grew up the second of three brothers, one sister. He graduated Cocke County High School, Newport and Mid State Medical Academy, Nashville, TN. Edmund graduated Mid State Medical Academy as a Licensed and Certified Laboratory Technician. He joined the Army National Guards and served honorably for 8 years. Edmund moved to Fort Myers, Florida, where he married and established a successfully business, Medical Phlebotomy Company for many years before returning to Newport to work with his retired father. Edmund was of Methodist Faith and served as Lay Leader for several years. He loved his church and served faithfully. He was preceded in death by his Mother Emma Jean (McDowell) Woods, Father Robert E. Woods, Son Jason Woods, Grandmother Sarah Woods, Grandfather William McDowell, Nephew Darin Snap, Detroit, MI, and Cousin -Sandra Grace, Virigina, Uncle Francis (Joy) McDowell, Akron, OH. Left to Cherish Edmund's memories are his Fiancé Stephanie Stewart, Children; Felix (Tonya) Vess, Athens, TN, Samantha (Marcus) Barnes, Sabrina Woods, Ft. Myers, FL and Lara Temple, Atlanta, GA. Special Niece Riley Woods, Greeneville, TN. Grandchildren: (Felix) Katie and Chelsie, Athens, TN, (Samantha) Passion, Precious, Mariah, Mayah, Ft. Myers, FL (Sabrina) Dorian, Breanna and Darius, Ft. Myers, FL, (Lara) Julissa, Atlanta GA. Siblings: Odell Buford, Knoxville, TN, Felipa (Eddie) Davis, Nashville, TN, Roddy (Victoria) Woods, Newport, TN, Very Special Cousin Clarice Flynn, Akron, OH Special Uncle James T. (Cleo) McDowell, Cleveland, OH. Nephews and Nieces: Jayson Covington, Nashville, TN; Dewayne Hall, Knoxville, TN; Demourie Franklin, Knoxville, TN; Samantha Proffitt, San Diego, CA. Special mention to Devoted Cousin Derick Woods, Newport, TN for his tireless devotion is greatly appreciated and a host of cousins, extended family, and friends. Special Thanks to Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice for their wonderful care of our Father and Brother. He will be deeply missed.
