James Neas

James Edward Neas, age 82, passed away Friday May 18, 2018 at his home in Parrottsville, TN. He was born August 25, 1935 to Glenn and Edith Stephenson Neas. He attended Parrottsville High School, and served in the United State Marine Corps for three years. By profession he worked with several chemical companies that utilized Rock Hill Lab. Farming and outdoor activities, especially hunting and fishing, gave James a lot of pleasure. James especially loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They brought him a lot of pleasure as he watched them grow. For many years James attended O&S United Methodist Chapel with his family and neighbors. James was preceded in death by his wife, Joann Ottinger Neas and infant son Jody Neas. He is survived by his son, Jeff and Teresa Neas of Parrottsville, daughter, Jamie and Mark Horne of Robbins, TN, grandchildren, Emmaline Neas of Parrottsville, Matthew and Amber Horne of Mosheim, Jeremy and Danielle Horne of Clinton, and great-grandchildren, Reagan, Rebecca, Ethan, and Luke Horne, sister, Betty and Charles W. Smith, brother, Ronald and Mitz Neas, along with other nephews and cousins. A special thank you to Teresa Renner for her dedication and compassionate care for James over the past seven years, and also Brenda Carter in recent months, both of who made it possible for James to receive the best care while he remained at home. The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Candi Overholt and staff, UT Home Health, and Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice for the professional and compassionate care during his extended illness. Many thanks to all the special friends and neighbors who were always willing to lend a hand and offer encouragement. A grave side service will be held 1:00 pm Monday, May 21, 2018 in Union Cemetery, with Reverend David Gass officiating. The family will arrive thirty minutes prior to the service to visit with family and friends. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to your favorite charity in memory of James.
