John Ellison

NEWPORT (Bybee) TN, John "Emerson" Ellison, age 73, went to be with the Lord, Monday, July 24, 2006, at home suddenly. He was born in Cocke County, graduated from Parrottsville High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Parma Hts. Baptist Church, Parma Hts., Ohio and attended Northport Baptist Church, Newport, TN. He was a Mason, at Edwin S. Griffiths Lodge #749, North Royalton, Ohio. He retired from USX Corporation, in 1986. He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Ashley Ellison and mother, Clydia (Holt) Ellison; infant sons, Danny and Donny Ellison; infant grandsons, Jacob and Jason Bretz; brothers, Willard Ashley Ellison and Paul Virgil Ellison; sisters, Phoebe Imogene Ellison/Gannon and Joan Ellison/Kolb and sister-in-law, Joyce E. Drager. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Beverly Ann (Houston) Ellison; daughters and sons-in-law, Holly Ann and Gary Abramowski, Brunswick Hills, Ohio, Robin Leigh and Edward Griffiths, Pawnee, Ok., Jill Elaine and David Myatt, Hinckley, Ohio, Heidi Kay and Richard Bretz, Seven Hills, Ohio; grandchildren, Amber and Bret Abramowski/ Poplos, Ashley and Todd Abramowski/Kifer, Aaron Abramowski, Krystle Leigh and Eddie Griffiths, Amanda Kay, Alicia Elaine and David Jacob Myatt, Ryan John, Rachel Elizabeth and Nathaniel Emerson Bretz; brothers and sisters, Harold Ellison and wife, Linda, Bean Station, Tn., Delores (Ellison) Steel and husband Tommy of Mohawk, TN., Dr's Gerald and Gerri Ellison, Tulsa, Ok., Wayne Ellison and wife Brenda, Bybee, Tn., Carl Drager, Broadview Hts., Ohio; several nieces, nephews; and great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 29, 2006 at Northport Baptist Church. Officiating the services will be, Reverend Wade Holbrook and Joe Bible from Antioch Baptist Church, who went to school with Emerson. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, with L/Cpl Charles C. Roberts, DAV Chapter 102 conducting military rites. Pallbearers will be, Eddie Griffiths, Aaron Abramowski, Sean Ellison, Gary Abramowski, David Myatt, and Rick Bretz. The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm Thursday and Friday at Manes Funeral Home.
