Louise R. Stone

Louise Stone, age 97, of Chattanooga, Tennessee went to be with her Savior on March 22. She attended Fowler’s Grove one room school house and graduated from Parrottsville, high school. Louise moved to Asheville, North Carolina but eventually moved back to Cocke County where she was a resident for many years. She had a 26 year career at Stokely Van Camp where she worked in the lab. Louise was always very involved with her church wherever she lived. She attended Bruner’s Grove United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church of Newport. After she retired, Louise moved to Chattanooga where she was very active at Tyner United Methodist Church. She especially enjoyed her quilting group, baking pies for shut-ins, traveling with the church, and volunteering wherever the church needed her. Louise loved spending time with her family and was a loyal friend. She is preceded in death by her parents, Lizzie and Jessie Rice, her son James Stone and her brother, James Rice. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Morris, Chattanooga, Tennessee her grandson , Michael Stone of Newport Tennessee, her granddaughter, Leah Golden, Chattanooga, Tennessee, her great grandchildren. Austin Stone, Pensacola, Florida, Hadley and Anderson Golden, Chattanooga, Tennessee, her brother Jack Rice, Bybee, Tennessee, and her sister Hilda Dillon, Cleveland, Ohio. Special appreciation and gratitude is expressed to the staff at Thrive where she spent the last five years and to Tapestry Hospice. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Sunday, March 27 with funeral services immediately following in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, Newport, Tennessee with Steve Parker officiating. Interment will be immediately following the service at Bruner’s Grove United Methodist Church Bybee, Tennessee. There will be a gathering of family and friends on Thursday, April 7th, 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Tyner United Methodist, Wesley Hall, Chattanooga, Tennessee.
