Phil Killion

Phil Killion, age 66 of Newport, passed away Monday, July 7, 2025. Phil was born to JW and Kathleen Killion in the Reidtown Community. He was the little brother to David. He attended Edgemont Elementary and Cocke County High School. He then attended trade school in Morristown where he would learn the trade of welding and machine shop. That trade led him to a lifetime career where he worked for DF Schoffner for over 30 years and spent a great portion of that time at Bush Brothers. At a very young age, Phil had a passion for anything that had a motor and wheels. From mowers, cars, and motorcycles he enjoyed working on them, restoring, and collecting them. If a car show was in town, that is where he would be found. Phil was also very active in the Reidtown community as well as the county where he was a CLB member for 20 years. He took pride in his neighbors and was always the one who was called if someone needed help. He was there with a helping hand. He was most proud of his family and the life that he and Tammy had created. They were married in November, 1979 in Newport and this would be the beginning of a lifetime of wonderful memories. In their 46 years of marriage, he set an example of what a husband and father is, he was nothing short of amazing. He was so proud of his girls Brandi, Candace, and Kayla. If you were having a conversation with him, he was telling you all about them. His girls was his world. As the girls got older, they welcomed sons-in-law into the family Robby, Eddie, and Roy, who were more like their sons. He loved them so much and was proud of them too. His greatest role would be in 2004, where they welcomed their first grandchild Colby, and that’s were he got the title “Big Daddy.” Soon after would come Hudson and Harper and his heart was filled with precious memories of these babies. From teaching them to fish, ride four wheelers, watching them in sports, he loved them and was so proud of them as well. He loved his family and friends. He touched so many lives and met so many people from co-workers to neighbors and friends. He will be missed by many people. He was preceded in death by his parents JW and Kathleen Killion. He leaves behind his loving wife of 46 years Tammy Killion; daughters Brandi (Robby) Reece, Candace (Eddie) Campbell, and Kayla (Roy) Estes; grandchildren Colby Reece, Hudson and Harper Estes, and Ashyln Campbell; brother David (Sue) Killion; niece Kristi (Reece) Ball; nephew David (Karen) Hall; great-niece Sydney Ball; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Tommy (Nancy) Taylor and Pam (Brian) Rathbone; special cousins Kat, Neil (Paula) Logan and Rodney (Lisa) Finchum; special friends Ace Sneed, Freddy Henry, and Jay Ottinger; also other family members and friends. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m., Thursday, July 10, 2025 with funeral services following at 7 p.m. in the Manes Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 11, 2025 in Swannsylvania Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will meet at Manes Funeral Home at 10:15 a.m. to go in procession.
