Raymond Douglas Jacobs

Raymond Douglas Jacobs, age 80 of Newport passed away Thursday, February 23, 2006 at his home. He was a veteran of W.W. 11 serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre, was educated at the National School of Business also attended the Church of God Theological Semenary in Cleveland, TN. He pastored several churches for 56 years including, Lawrenceburg Church of God in Lawrenceburg, TN for 4 years, Mississippi Boulevard Church of God in Memphis, TN for 4 years after evangelizing 5 Years he pastored the Newport Church of God for 9 years, Mt. Olive Church of God in Cleveland, TN for 17 years and the Parrottsville Church of God in Parrottsville from 1998 till the present Preceded in death by his parents; Garnett Jacobs and Lena Simmons Harris. Survivors include his wife; Wylene Morgan Jacobs of Newport, children; Raymond Douglas Jacobs, Jr. and wife Bridget of Lafayette, LA, Michael Jacobs and wife Shelia of Cleveland, TN, Donna Jacobs of Cleveland, TN, Darla Draper and her husband, Robin of McDonald, TN. Grandsons; Zachary Johnson, Dustin, Cody Hicks and Steven Cline, all of Cleveland, TN, granddaughters; Nichole and Eric Geren, Stacey Jones, Yada Draper all of Cleveland, TN, Natasha Jacob of Tallahassee, FL and Morgan Alexandria Jacobs of Cincinnati, OH, great grandchildren; Erica and Emma Geren, Shalee and Cannon Jones of Cleveland, TN, brother and sister in law; Eugene and Wanda Jacobs of Chattanooga, TN, Kathleen Debord of Pikeville, TN, brother in law; Phillip Morgan and wife Wilma, sister in laws; Elizabeth Fine, Carolyn Morgan all of Newport, Sarah and her husband Larry Shaver of Greeneville. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2006 at the Newport Church of God with the Rev. Terry Ailor and Rev. Ottis C. Ball officiating. His body will lie in state at the church from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery with L/CPL Charles Roberts Chapter 102 of the Disabled American Veterans. Family will receive friends 6:00 till 9:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Pall bearers will be Zachary Johnson, Dustin Hicks, Cody Hicks, Eric Geren, Jonathan Morgan, Wesley and Brett Rector, Richard Morgan, Phillip Morgan, Jr. honorary will be Council Members and men of the Parrottsville Church of God.
