Vida Roella Ball Ivy

On Thursday, June 11th 2026, Vida Roella Ball Ivy, age 84, of Edwina, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after a brief battle with metastatic cancer. Vida Roella Ball Ivy and Bobby Wayne Ivy were married on December 29, 1961. They enjoyed a faithful marriage of 55 years, farming tobacco and tomatoes, raising children, and worshipping Christ together at Webb Baptist Church and Shady Grove Baptist Church. Roella was a talented artist, a caring neighbor, and a compassionate friend. She loved singing timeless gospel hymns from the time she was a child on the radio with her father, mother, and sister, and then in churches across the community. She was a longtime cook at the Burning Bush in Gatlinburg and served as the dietary supervisor at the Newport Convalescent Center for more than 20 years. Roella enjoyed being ‘Granny,’ coloring, puzzles, reading the Bible in its entirety again and again, and journaling each day. She never had a cross word for anyone and never met a stranger–as countless coworkers, friends, and patients knew her as ‘Sweet Roella.’ Roella was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Wayne Ivy; her children, Vida Ivy Bell and Wayney Velt Ivy; her parents, Hubert Ball and Candas Lavada Crum Ball. She is survived by her children, Waynella (Tommy) Large and Willie (Angie) Ivy; her son-in-law, John A. Bell; her grandchildren, Scotty Large, John Luke Bell, Isaiah (Kaitlyn) Ivy, Meredith Ivy Bell, Emerald (Austin) Loveday, and Spencer (Caitlin) Shaver; and her great-grandchildren, Evan Large, Gracelynn June and Ellie Waynne Ivy, Branson and Eleanor Loveday, and Paisley and Natalie Shaver. She is also survived by her sister, Huberta (Garland) Hannah; nephews, Stephen (Karen) Hannah and Nathan (Michelle) Hannah, Joe Ivy, Mike Ivy, Jack Henry, Ruble Henry, Dwight Ivy, Bobby Ivy, Maurice Ivy; nieces, Rebecca Ivy, Orlevia Ivy, Kathy Crosby, Lisa Walker, and Patti Talley. Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 13th 2026 in Resthaven Memorial Gardens with Rev. Jackie Swanger officiating. Burial will follow. A very special thank you to Dr. Thomas Conway, Rennie Fisher, Tammy and Jabo Francis, and the staff of the Primary Care Center, Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice, and Newport Medical Center.
