Joseph D. Benjamin , Jr., aka “JJ” suddenly departed this life on May 22, 2022; he was 24 years young. His education began in Cocke County : Edgemont Elementary, then relocated to Greeneville and attended Greeneville High, then to Cherokee North Carolina. He was an outstanding football and basketball player. He earned a scholarship in basketball and attended Bacone University in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He is survived by his parents, Joseph and Leslie Benjamin, brothers Jerome Carmichael and Kendrick Littlejohn, sister Taresa Robinson of North Carolina and cousin Karmine Carmichael. Funeral services will be held 2 pm Friday June 3, 2022 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Gum Springs Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 12 noon until 2 pm on Friday prior to the funeral service.
