Nease "Chicken-Hawk" Woodson
March 5, 1946 - June 13, 2022
Nease “Chicken-Hawk” Woodson Born 03/05/1946 Died 06/13/2022 It is with heavy heart that we announce the end of this life for Nease “Chicken-Hawk” Lamar Woodson. Nease survived 76 years of doing what he wanted when he wanted and how he wanted. The last couple of years spent at Jefferson Place, a wonderful skilled nursing center filled with caring people that came to know and love his character. As many know, he was a jack-of-all-trades and a master of none. When he got bored he simply went on to something else. He loved to tinker…but usually his craftmanship did not always turn out as he planned. That is what made him special to all of us. He was born to Robert and Elizabeth Woodson and was the fifth child in a family of four boys and two girls. The eldest brother Gary died young in 1950, all the remaining siblings are left to celebrate his life. Myra, the eldest sister, sent him cards encouraging his wellness. Polly the next oldest took care of his banking and personal needs. Nile, his older brother checked in on him and continued with brotherly advice. Shane focused to keep the horse and farm dreams alive for all to enjoy as their Dad and Grandmother Ida O’Dell Woodson would have delighted. One story shared is that when he was a teenager, Dad gave him money to get a haircut. He spent the money on other things, and was confronted to get his hair cut. He went and got a mohawk cut in retaliation. He spent the next couple of weeks in a knitted cap until his hair grew back. To say he was stubborn may be an understatement. No Funeral Service is planned at this time. He will be cremated and his ashes interred at Union Cemetery on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at 10:00 am. He may refuse to go in. Family and friends may sign the guest register online at www.manesfuneralhome.com. Arrangements by Manes Funeral Home.
