Charles (Charlie) Morris

Charles (Charlie) Richard Morris, 86 of Dandridge, Tennessee passed away March 3, 2022, with his wife, Bonnie, by his side. Charlie is survived by his wife Bonnie, his adult children, Susan Morris (Randy), Patricia Smyth, David Morris (Brianna) and his stepdaughter, Carol Ostlund (Mike), along with 11 grandchildren, David, Grace, Douglas, lan, Dora, Athena, Killian, Lazarus, Maya, Chloe, and Amelia. He is also survived by his nephew Jimmy Osborne (Linda), and his nieces Phyllis Baker (Dave), Elaine Gazaway and Vikki Morris (Tim) He is predeceased by his parents, Richard and Rosa Morris, his sister Sarah Osborne, his brother Robert Morris and by his grandson, Charles Smyth. Charlie was born in Atlanta, Georgia and grew up in the family home in the small town of Brookhaven where he returned for many Christmases and Easters with his children in tow. Charlie graduated from Chamblee High School and was hired by General Electric. He earned a law degree from Atlanta Law School, and General Electric sent him to Georgia Tech for an engineering education. He had a long career with General Electric that took him from Georgia toTexas, Oklahoma, California, Ohio and Florida. Charlie and Bonnie were married for 37 years and lived in Ponte Vedra, Florida before moving to Tennessee. In retirement they built a home in Dandridge, where they have enjoyed the natural beauty of their favorite place for more than 26 years. Active in Alcoholics Anonymous and sober for 42 years, Charlie was dedicated to helping others in their journey to sobriety. Charlie loved their dogs and was fond of working around the house accompanied over the years by PJ, Ole Rattler, Sunny, and Casey. He spent hours researching and recording the family history and traveled the country visiting libraries, courthouses and cemeteries to confirm his findings. He was a wonderful storyteller who loved to make his friends and family, and especially his grandchildren, laugh. He was proud of his heritage and his family. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and his broad smile. There were no strangers in his life. Charlie was diagnosed with Alzheimer's several years ago and thus began the journey of the "long goodbyes." Charlie will be deeply missed by his neighbors and friends, his loving family, and most of all, by Bonnie. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 12th at 11:00 in the chapel of the First United Methodist Church, 212 Washington Ave, Newport. The chapel entrance is on 3rd street. The Rev.
