Daniel Wayne Messer

Daniel Wayne Messer, age 35, left his pilgrim journey here on Earth to go to his Eternal home in Heaven on Sunday, January 19th, 2025. Daniel was born on Thursday, May 25th, 1989 in Newport, TN, and his second birth was on Thursday, May 30th, 2024. He was a 13 year student of Cosby School, graduating in 2007. Daniel regularly attended Faith, Hope, Love, Family Church where he made a faithful commitment and surrendered his life to God. That day, he came to realize his debt had been paid and was rescued from the chains of bondage he was in. Daniel’s life was an example to many of what God can do. His testimony was shared throughout churches in the county. He was so talented, able to play any instrument he picked up and had a beautiful voice. Daniel will also be remembered by his sense of humor, outlook on life, knowledge, and companionship. His smile and laugh was contagious. Daniel has left an impression on so many lives during his 35 year journey here on Earth, and his memory will live on forever in the lives he encountered. Daniel was most proud to be a father to 3 beautiful children, whom he loved with all his heart. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, William “Walt” and Cora Mae (Ford) Grindstaff; his paternal grandfather, Franklin Delinore Messer, great-grandparents, John and Rachel “Bea” Messer, Della Hall, Dr. Benjamin P. and Maggie Ford; an uncle, Earl Grindstaff; an aunt Evelyn Grindstaff; and a very special cousin John David Messer. He is survived by his 3 children Flora, Daniel Jr., and Wildahila Messer; his parents, Johnny and Jewel Messer of Hartford, Karen (Grindstaff) and Robert Edmonds of Cosby; one sister, Ashley (Messer) and Jonathan Ferguson of Clyde, NC; two nieces, Macey and Miley Ferguson; his paternal grandmother, Flora Messer of Newport; aunts and uncles, Loretta and Mickey Valentine of Newport, Chuck and Barbara Quintard of Flowery Branch, GA., Johnny Grindstaff of Newport, and Otta Grindstaff of Newport; numerous cousins and great uncles and aunts; a special cousin, Joe “Nooge” Messer; and his extended family, all his brothers TNJCAP. Pallbearers: Joe Messer, Bryant Spurgeon, Dustin Bentley, Joseph Barrett, Jesse Cavett, Adam Finchum, Donte Decoteau, John Bowman, Ryan Wolbert. Officiating the service will be Pastor Jon Walton. Visitation 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, January 24, 2025 at Manes Funeral Home, Service following visitation. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 25, 2025 at The Messer Family Cemetery.
