Dot Ramsey Jr., 84, of Newport, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home on July 6, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 24, 1941, Dot was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, faithful Christian, and friend to many. His patience, kindness, and unwavering faith were evident in every aspect of his life. A dedicated member of Antioch Baptist Church, he lived his life as an example of Christ’s love through his words, actions, and service to others. Dot proudly served his country in the National Guard for eight years. He spent 23 years serving on the Cocke County School Board. He also spent ten years coaching the Blue Coats Little League football team, where he invested in the lives of countless young athletes. Whether on the football field, at church, or with his family, he was known for his steady presence, gentle spirit, and willingness to encourage those around him. He shared 60 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Linda Ramsey. Together they built a family rooted in faith, love, and devotion. In his spare time, Dot enjoyed playing golf and could often be found watching his favorite old Westerns. Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Linda Ramsey; his sons, Randy Ramsey and Rick Long (Shea Long); his grandchildren, Logan Long (Sawyer Bruce), Hannah O’Dell (Gunter O’Dell), Seth Ramsey (Kinley Coggins), Emma Arrowod and Brayden Ramsey; his great-grandson, Collin O’Dell; his brothers, Scotty Ramsey and Mikey Ramsey; Sister in law Diana Arrowood and his special friend and neighbor, Shelly Mascaro. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dot Ramsey Sr. and Georgie Ramsey, and Trula McGaha and Cecil McGaha; and by his brother, Buddy Don Ramsey. A graveside visitation will be held for 30 minutes beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Union Cemetery. The funeral service will immediately follow at 10:30 a.m. Though he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, his family finds comfort in knowing that he has gone home to be with his Lord and Savior.
