Grace Janet Ball

Grace Janet Ball "Gracie Maye" Gentry, age 80, passed away on June 11,2025, in Newport, Tn. Born on February 28, 1945, in Hot Springs, North Carolina, Grace lived a life rooted in love, faith and devotion to her family. Grace graduated from high school in Marshall, North Carolina, and went on to build a life centered around her deep Christian faith and the people she cherished most. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and friend whose warmth touched everyone who Knew her. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband James Harvey Ball-the love of her life-whom she never stopped loving after his passing. Their bond remained unbroken throughout the years. Also preceding her death were her eldest daughter Angela June Strom (Penny), her son Roy James Ball, her father Hubert Gentry, mother Bertie Gentry and brothers Jabo, Dick and Jerry. Grace is survived by her daughter and best friend Sheryl Ball; Dennis Ball and Brenda; David Ball and Cindy; son-in-law Jeff Strom. Grandchildren, Brandy Strom; Zachary Strom, Felicia Wilson, Tate Maynard, Casey Wilson, Tanner Hall, Francisco Garcia, DJ Ball and Julie, Josh Clowers and Susan; as well as 10 great-grandchildren whom she longed to know. Her legacy lives on through each of them. Grace found joy in the simple pleasures of life-spending time with family was her greatest happiness. She loved nature deeply: the big trees in the backyard brought her peace and inspiration. She often dreamed of the perfect picnic surrounded by all of her loved ones together under those trees. Her heart was open to all; she never held back on expressing love or offering kind words. Compliments flowed freely from Grace-she saw beauty in everyone. An animal lover throughout her life, Grace cared for many pets over the years. Her most recent companions were Jazzy and Josie, who brought comfort and companionship during her later years. Her faith was unwavering-she loved the Lord with all her heart. That spiritual strength carried her through life's joys and sorrows alike. Grace was blessed with Special people who stood by her side with care and compassion. Elizabeth Williford shared a close bond with Grace and helped care for her alongside Sheryl. May Grace's memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. Her spirit lives on in every kind word spoken, every tree that sways gently in the breeze- and every moment shared among those she held dear. A visitation will be held on June 14, 2025 5-7 pm and funeral to follow at 7 pm at Manes Funeral Home, 363 East Main Street Newport Tn.
