James Vineyard Mullins

James Vineyard Mullins, age 76, of Newport, went to be with the Lord Sunday, February 13, 2011 at his home. He was a beloved husband, daddy, papaw and great papaw who proudly served our country from April 27, 1955 until April 26, 1963 in the United States Army. He was a foster parent for over 10 years for over 30 children whom he loved dearly. He retired from Double Tree Hilton formerly Park Vista Sheraton in Gatlinburg from the engineering department with 27 years of service. He was preceded in death by his father, James Otho Mullins; mother, Lillian Edith Salisbury Mullins; stepmother, Vesta Ellen Taylor Mullin; grandparents, James Lloyd and Dallie Salisbury; brothers and sisters, Brenda Joyce, Linwood Reese, Danny Joe Mullins, Paul Donald Mullins, Rosie Elliot, John Lee (Jack) Mullins, Clifford Mullins and Mary Stricker; grandson, Alan Dean Stiles. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Elma Jean Mullins of the home; children, Pamela (Durial) Campbell, John (Debbie) Cavanaugh all of Newport, Cathy Lynn Burns and companion William Eigielsbach of Knoxville, Carol Jean Stiles of FL, and Kathy Jean (Kent) Smith of Newport; brothers and sisters, Clyde Junior Mullins of Ohio, Ernest Mullins of WV, Paul Mullins and companion Patsy Vaughn of Ohio, Shirley Rutkowsky of GA, Ruth (Tom) Leaf of Maryland, Kathy Elswick, Roger (Karen) Mullins, Sandra Elswick and Marcine Ann Mullins all of WV; aunt, Sarah (Ben) Andras of Ohio; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Henry (Lucille) Sturm of Maryland, Gae Congi of WV, Cindy Mullins of Ohio; special granddaughter in which he helped raise, Amy (John) Whitford; other grandchildren, Jessica Cavanaugh of Newport, Charlie ( Amanda) Stiles of Orange City, FL, Niki Campbell Webb of Newport, Amanda (Zink) Barnes of Newport, Joshua James (Mindy Shelton) Campbell of Newport, Louis Earle of Newport, Alyssa Fields of Knoxville, Ashley Campbell of Newport, Thomas, Sierra, Keith and Jolene Smith of Newport; great grandchildren, Tayler Lillian, Shaine Alan, and Levi James Webb all of Newport, Andrew John (A. J. ) Whitford of FL, Kenleigh Grace Campbell of Newport and Baby Stiles; and other family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6-9 pm Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at Manes Funeral Home Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon Wednesday, February 16, 2011 in Manes Funeral Home chapel with Mike Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery with military honors. Honorary pallbearers will be Howard (Cubby) Reed, Stanley Cutshaw, Johnny Whitlock and Tony Velez.
