Mitchell Stewart Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mitchell Stewart, age 67, of Newport, was born on September 14, 1956 in Newport, Tennessee. He passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center-Nashville, Tennessee. Mitchell graduated from Cocke County High School and enlisted in the United States Army; thus receiving an Honorable Discharge as a Disabled Veteran, while stationed in Europe. He was an avid book reader and spent many hours in the Stokely Memorial Library. Mitchell’s true passions were fitness, studying literature related to and tirelessly practicing martial arts; and reading the Bible. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary E. Stewart; brother, Larry Stewart; his grandparents, Maggie Lee and Sam Stewart. He is survived by his sisters, Deloris Robinson, Clarice Stewart, Myra Stewart-Diallo; brothers, Craig Stewart and Jackie Stewart all of Newport. And a host of nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins, friends and a special aunt; Pauline Rice. A special “thank you” to the Veterans Administration, Mountain Home VA Medical Center, Chris Ross, Rick Hart, Daisy Oliver (deceased), Mrs. Pam Hannon, Derrick Woods and local law enforcement, Attorney Patti Lay-Baugh and cousin Janice Hill. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 25, 2023 from 12 noon – 2 pm with funeral service following at 2 pm in Manes Funeral Home West Chapel.
