Vida Ivy Bell

Vida Ivy Bell passed to Heaven on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at her home in the Edwina community after a battle with cancer. Vida was born to Bobby Wayne Ivy and Vida Roella Ball Ivy on October 21, 1966. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior as a young girl at Webb Baptist Church after Vacation Bible School and followed her decision with baptism in the Cosby Creek. Vida Ivy Bell attended Bridgeport Elementary and Cosby High School. At sixteen years old, she began at Carson-Newman University. She earned degrees with honors from both the University of Louisville and the University of Tennessee School of Law. John Alton Bell and Vida Ivy were married at Webb Baptist Church on June 30, 1984. Vida was licensed to practice law in 1990 and enjoyed a successful law practice in Newport for 29 years. She was honored to serve as the Municipal Judge for the City of Newport from 2011 to present. James 1:17 says “Every good and perfect gift is from above.” Vida’s most perfect and excellent gifts and her greatest successes in life were her two children, John Luke Bell and Meredith Ivy Bell whom she loved with all her heart. Her favorite pastimes were gardening and raising flowers, time outside, cooking, house projects, and time spent with her family. Vida lived a most wonderful and blessed life. Psalm 136:1 was one of her favorite verses: “Give thanks to the Lord for He is good. His mercy (love) endures forever.” Vida Ivy Bell was predeceased by her daddy, Bobby Wayne Ivy, grandparents, Hubert and Candas Lavada Crum Ball, grandparents, Roosevelt and Martha Ada Cody Ivy, mother-in-law, Una Merle Gay Bell, brother-in-law, Joel F. Bell, and baby-dog, Max. She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, John Alton Bell, and children, John Luke Bell and Meredith Ivy Bell, mama, Vida Roella Ball Ivy, sister, Waynella Ivy Large and her husband, Tommy, brother, Wayney V. Ivy, brother, Willie B. Ivy and his wife, Angie, aunt, uncle and cousins, Huberta and Garland Hannah, Stephen and Nathan, father-in-law, D. Frank Bell, brother-in-law, Dallas F. Bell and his wife, Janice, sister-in-law, Carol Bell, brother-in-law, Daniel M. Bell and his wife, Sharon, sister-in-law, Linda Bell Meeks and her husband, Marty, sister-in-law, Rebecca Bell Hunter and her husband, Rex. She is also survived by nephews, Scotty Large, Isaiah Ivy, Spencer Shaver, Thomas Hunter, TJ Meeks, Micky Meeks, Sam Meeks, and nieces, Emerald Loveday, Alicia Datzman, Trevia Berry, Jenna Layrock, Kayla Bell, Hannah Hunter, and Carmen Hunter.
