Willie Mae Wilds Cate

Willie Mae (Wilds) Cate (affectionately known as Billie Mae and Bill), Clinton, TN, died peacefully in her sleep and went to her much deserved Home in Heaven Tuesday, June 13, 2006. She was the fifth child born September 22, 1909 to the late John Robert Wilds and Essie Blanchard Wilds of the Del Rio community of Cocke County, TN. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by beloved husband, Oscar Harrison Cate in 1982 and son, William McMahan Cate (Billy Mack) in 1980; daughter, Mary Elizabeth Cate Lomas in 1990; infant sons Victor Emanuel and Robert Harrison, and infant grandson, Sean Cate; brothers and sisters: Hattie Hale, Dean Miller, Dessie Harper, Nelle Valentine, Ernest Wilds, Doyle Wilds, Cecile Fields, Robbye Miller and baby sister Mabel Jo Wilds. She was a loving and precious mother to her children who are left behind: son, Charles Thomas Cate and Katherine of Sequim, WA and daughter, Shirley Cate Hill Saxton of the home in Clinton, TN. Grandchildren: Ray Harrison Cate and Tina, Wilmington, IL, Michael Cate and Lanea, Yakima, WA, Chad Cate and Melissa, Sequim, WA, Susan Cate-Engles, Lacey, WA, Shannon Cate Santos, Fayetteville, NC, and Roxanne Stretch and Robert, Fallon, NV . Grandchildren: Michael Hill and Cynthia, Clinton, TN and Patrick Hill, Lake City, TN, step-grand children, Terry Saxton, Chattanooga, TN and Angela Saxton, Albuquerque, NM. Grandchildren: Christopher Cate, Reno, NV and Charlene Cate Allard and Ray, Las Vegas, NV. She also leaves behind 14 great-grand-children and 4 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and special niece and friend, Sue Harper Thomas, Knoxville, Tennessee. Special acknowledgement and heartfelt gratitude to Cynthia Hill, Clinton, Tennessee, granddaughter-in-law, who was a loving caregiver. Billie Mae loved the Lord and was a long-time member of Shepherd of the Hills Baptist Church, Powell (formerly Park Lane Baptist Church, Knoxville) and in her younger life a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Bat Harbor community, Newport, TN. The family will receive friends Friday, June 16 from 6-9 pm at Manes Funeral Home. Service will be held Saturday, June 17 at 11:00 am at Manes Funeral Home with Reverend Gale Lyon conducting the service. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Newport. Pallbearers are Chris Thomas, Knoxville; Mike Hill, Clinton; Pat Hill, Steve Hill, Clinton; Chip Cate, Wilmington, IL; and Terry Saxton, Chattanooga, TN.
