WILTON F DUFRENE JR known to family and friends as "Jr", "Moon" or "Will" born AUG 11, 1936 in New Orleans, La. On Friday Feb 10, 2017, entered into eternal rest, to be with Our Lord Jesus, of natural cause, in The Great Smoky Mountains city of Newport Tn. He was a native of Louisiana, he loved and celebrated its history, flavor and culture. He lived out his retirement in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee loving the beauty and splendor of the mountain region. He always shared a smile and made others laugh. He collected Coca -Cola memorabilia, enjoyed casino gaming, seafood,mardi gras and music. He is preceded in death by his mother Gladys L Dufrene and father Wilton F Dufrene Sr, brothers Wilfred J Dufrene, Harold J Dufrene and Charles J Dufrene, sisters Violet M Dufrene, Elaine D Besson and Rose M Briere. He is survived by a loving brother and sister in law Richard J. Dufrene (Marilyn), three loving daughters and sons in law Desiree M Dufrene Hernandez (Mark), Daphne A Dufrene Wilde (Mike), Darlene A Dufrene Peturis (Giuseppi) ,six grandchildren , Brandon Adams, Jason Adams , Joseph Peturis , Peter Peturis , Angelina Peturis and Stephanie Peturis , a host of loving nieces , nephews , extended family and caring friends. He graduated Francis T Nicholls High School in New Orleans, LA. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, as a fireman, from 1957-1962 serving in the Panama Canal, being honorably discharged .He worked for various Ford Motor Company dealerships in the New Orleans and Covington area. He studied criminology at Louisiana State University (LSU) earning a Criminal Justice degree. He used that degree for a long career in law enforcement becoming a police officer with the Sildell Police Department, Slidell La. Where he worked until retirement in 1997. Finally living out the rest of his life in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee. He was an active member of the Louisiana Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), Knights of Columbus (K of C) and Slidell police reserves. He practiced the Catholic faith and was a member of the Archdiocese of New Orleans parish in New Orleans La and Our Lady of Lourdes parish in Slidell La. Professional services were entrusted to Manes Funeral Home 363 E.
